Switzerland

Traveling around Switzerland reminded me a little of New Zealand, with incredible landscapes at every turn in the road. This trip turned out to be unseasonably hot to the point that there was very little snow on the Matterhorn or at Piz Gloria. The lights on the side of the Matterhorn in the first image represented the 150th anniversary of the first successful ascent to the summit by Edward Whymper on July 14th 1865, although I imagine there would have been a great deal more snow and ice on the peak than was the case during my unseasonably hot summer’s visit .
